Useful Resources for Clinicians Working in the NHS

Moving to the UK to work in the NHS can be daunting. It can be hard to find a community of doctors, keep up to date with the latest industry news and access resources you may need for career progression and development. Luckily, there are several online communities, resources and tools that can support your move to the NHS – read more here.

Royal College Resources

Each medical specialty in the UK has a Royal College, who are responsible for the development and training of clinicians in their specialty. As well as providing registration for clinicians who have passed their Royal College examinations, Royal Colleges also support clinicians with their career development, hosting formal and informal learning activities.

They can also support clinicians with finding a supportive network, and mentor, as well as with wellbeing resources.

The General Medical Council

The GMC, or General Medical Council, is an independent body that is responsible for regulating doctors in the UK to ensure that doctors meet its standards for good medical practice.

The GMC also provide several resources to support clinicians with career development, including e-learning and good medical practice guidelines, as well as wellbeing resources for clinicians.

Doctors.net.uk Resources

Doctors.net.uk (DNUK) is the UK’s largest professional network of doctors, with over 50,000 registered doctors using the platform every day, enabling clinicians to network, build on knowledge and stay up-to-date with industry news and developments.

DNUK also provide registered clinicians with a free @doctors.org.uk email address, allowing you to keep all of your emails in one place, accessible through the doctors.net.uk app

There are also several educational resources, from free independent CPD courses to the latest UK medical and NHS news, to support your career progression and learning and development, offering career advice, from graduation to retirement. DNUK also hosts a forum that allows clinicians to ask and answer clinical questions, as well at network and connect. IMGs can also register for membership with DNUK.
