Many of our candidates and clients work directly with our recruiters, but not many people realise how much hard work it takes behind the scenes to support our recruiters to overcome the NHS healthcare staffing crisis. In this article, we interview two of Remedium’s Hidden Heroes, Holly Flynn and Bethany Bradley, and find out about how they help doctors from around the world and support the wellbeing of the Remedium family.
Holly is our Operations Manager and Bethany is the PA to our CEO David Green.
What do you do day-to-day?
Bethany: I’m David’s PA, so most of the time I book meetings or travel for the team so that they can visit clients in the NHS Trusts/hospitals around the UK. I also book travel so the team can visit and help their doctors once they land in the UK. I work closely with Angela in HR to arrange initiatives to help with the wellbeing of our Remedium family. We have some amazing benefits for our staff, and we recently implemented Class Pass to give our team an opportunity to use credits towards going to the gym, having a massage, going to a mindfulness class or whatever they’d like to do in their spare time.
Holly: I manage all the software and CRM systems that we use. I also work closely with HR and our financial controller. I work on projects to help refine processes for the team and to make the business more agile and streamlined. When we have new Remediumites join the team we create welcome packs and arrange drinks for them to get to know the rest of the company. We also organise events across the year including summer parties, Christmas parties, team bonding activities and many more.
What makes you passionate about working with the NHS and helping Doctors?
Bethany: My favourite thing was when I help doctors relocate from all around the world to come and live and work in the UK. It filled me with so many emotions when I met them at the airport and saw the smiles on the doctors’ faces. Some of them also relocated with their families and to know we made their dreams come true was amazing.
Holly: I don’t work directly with helping the doctors but it’s great to be a part of an environment where I hear the recruiters on the phone making such an impact on these doctors lives.
What do you enjoy most about working together?
Bethany: We’re a big family at Remedium. I love working with Holly, having her by my side is so helpful. We always pick each other up and we’re always there for each other when we need each other.
Holly: We both support each other in everything we do. I can really rely on Bethany to help with anything and everything. If I think of something in the middle of the night, I put it in our group WhatsApp chat so that we can remember to do it in the morning. We’re in constant conversation with each other and we really are a dream team.
What’s your favourite event that you’ve organised for the Remedium family?
Bethany: My favourite events are all the smaller ones we arrange throughout the year. Halloween, Easter, Diwali, etc. Our team is incredibly diverse and we enjoy arranging events for every culture and tradition around the world. We feel that the small things really make a big impact across the team. We’ve also arranged events for doctors, after they have relocated, we arrange pizza parties and get-togethers so doctors can network and make friends within the UK.
Holly: My favourite event was the Christmas party that we’ve just had. After a tough year with Covid, it was amazing to all come together as a family to celebrate the achievements of the year. We all had the best time. We did Secret Santa, took lots of photos, had drinks and danced the night away.
