Exploring the Routes to become a UK Substantive Consultant

What is CESR and who is Eligible to Apply?

Doctors who aim to gain entry onto the Specialist Register and have not completed a GMC UK approved training programme are advised to explore the CESR route. All applicants are required to have either been awarded a specialist qualification, which is equivalent to one that is needed to apply for the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or have undertaken specialist training for at least six months. Based on the aforementioned, it is a necessity for the applicant to submit a portfolio of evidence. This ultimately results in a lengthy and tedious application process. To ensure a successful application from the outset of this process, an extensive amount of guidance should be sought.
