An excellent opportunity is available for a Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join a busy and expanding radiology department in the West Midlands.
This is a permanent, 10 PA Consultant position, with sessions delivered across two main hospital sites as part of a flexible group job-planning arrangement. Part-time and flexible working arrangements will also be considered. Specialist Registered candidates are required.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will:

• Perform vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology procedures for both inpatient and outpatient populations.
• Contribute to the department's general diagnostic radiology workload.
• Participate in the general radiology on-call rota.
• Develop and maintain advanced clinical skills in interventional radiology.
• Participate in the 1:24 cross-county general radiology on-call rota.
• Contribute to the organisation and administration of the Radiology Department.
• Participate in regular clinico-radiological meetings with Consultant colleagues.
• Support the training and development of junior Radiology staff.
• Develop enhanced clinical skills in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to clinical and quality targets.
• Follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

The Department

The Radiology Department is a large service operating across two main sites, with 33 radiology rooms and a significant range of modern imaging and interventional facilities.
The department has undergone a £7 million radiology upgrade, including new CT capacity, general X-ray rooms, fluoroscopy facilities, angiography and cardiology suites. The service provides access to angiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography and other imaging modalities.
The Consultant team includes established expertise across interventional vascular radiology, cross-sectional imaging, thoracic imaging, urology, breast, colorectal, musculoskeletal, paediatric and nuclear medicine radiology.

Person Specification

Essential

• MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
• FRCR or equivalent.
• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
• • CCT, with the proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview; or
  • CESR.
• Clinical training equivalent to that required for UK CCT in Clinical Radiology.
• Experience in Interventional Radiology.
• Evidence of commitment to clinical audit and research.
• Strong clinical, communication and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
• Ability to manage patients effectively and make appropriate clinical decisions.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and professional development.

Professional Development

The department places strong emphasis on audit, research, CPD, appraisal and revalidation. A dedicated Audit Department supports clinical audit activity, while research opportunities are available across the service. Mentorship is also supported for newly appointed Consultants.
