An exciting opportunity is available for a Principal House Officer or Emergency Medicine Registrar to join an established Emergency Medicine training network in Australia.
This role is particularly well-suited to doctors looking to move to Australia and develop a long-term career as a Rural Generalist.
The position offers the opportunity to gain broad Emergency Medicine experience within a supportive regional service, while accessing structured training, protected teaching and opportunities to develop specialist interests.
Positions are available for immediate commencement and from August 2026, with negotiable hours and flexible employment arrangements.


Who We're Looking For

We're looking for motivated and enthusiastic Emergency Medicine doctors who:
  • Are eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway
  • Have at least 3 years' Emergency Medicine Registrar experience in the NHS.
  • Have completed PLAB, if they qualified outside the UK
  • Have a genuine interest in entering Rural Generalist training.
  • Are passionate about delivering excellent emergency medical care
  • Are committed to developing their Emergency Medicine skills
  • Want to build a long-term medical career in Australia.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:
  • Provide high-quality emergency medical care in accordance with professional standards and ethics.
  • Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Participate in the Emergency Medicine training programme.
  • Participate in the training and supervision of junior medical staff.
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and collaborative clinical environment.
  • Carry out non-clinical activities relevant to Emergency Medicine as directed by the Director of Emergency Medicine.
  • Participate in professional development and performance appraisal.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and service development activities.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
  • Support effective communication with patients, families and colleagues.

 

Registration & Eligibility

Applicants must meet the relevant Australian registration and employment requirements.
  • Eligibility via the Competent Authority Pathway
  • Appropriate Australian medical registration requirements must be met.
  • Candidates who qualified outside the UK must have completed PLAB, where applicable.
  • Appropriate qualifications and registration evidence will be required before commencing clinical duties.
  • Candidates must meet Australian work-right requirements.
