An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Healthcare for Older People & Stroke Medicine to join an established and expanding service in South West England.
The successful candidate will work within an integrated multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care for older adults while helping to develop innovative frailty and stroke services. This role offers significant autonomy, dedicated time to support professional activities, and the opportunity to shape a consultant post around individual clinical interests and career aspirations.


Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver consultant-led care for older adults across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide specialist assessment and management for patients with frailty, complex geriatric conditions and stroke.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated patient-centred care.
  • Support the development of frailty pathways and innovative care models.
  • Participate in teaching, supervision and training of junior doctors and medical students.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.
  • Participate in consultant on-call responsibilities.
  • Maintain CPD, appraisal and revalidation requirements.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise.
  • Completion of specialist training in Geriatric Medicine / Healthcare for Older People.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register before appointment.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient-centred care.
  • Interest in teaching, education and service improvement.
