An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Histopathologist to join an innovative and supportive Cellular Pathology service in North West England.The successful candidate will contribute to the department's general Histopathology workload while having the opportunity to develop specialist interests. Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver a high-quality, patient-centred pathology service within a modern laboratory environment that supports teaching, research and continual service improvement.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Report a broad range of Histopathology specimens including skin, gastrointestinal, urology, gynaecology, breast and cardiothoracic pathology.
- Participate in multidisciplinary cancer meetings across multiple tumour sites.
- Contribute to delivering a high-quality diagnostic Histopathology service.
- Support undergraduate and postgraduate education and clinical training.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.
- Work collaboratively with biomedical scientists, clinicians and laboratory colleagues.
- Contribute to research activities and evidence-based practice.
- Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD), appraisal and revalidation requirements.

- Around 650 post-mortem examinations each year within a fully licensed mortuary facility.

- Active involvement in specialist cancer MDTs across a wide range of tumour sites.
Person Specification
Essential
- Full GMC Registration.
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or eligible within six months of interview).
- MB ChB or equivalent qualification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Broad Histopathology training and diagnostic experience.
- Ability to organise workload, supervise staff and prioritise effectively.
- Commitment to leadership, multidisciplinary teamwork and service improvement.
- Commitment to CPD, clinical governance and audit.
