An excellent opportunity is available for a Consultant Orthodontist to join a well-established Oral Surgery & Orthodontics service in the East of England.

The successful candidate will provide specialist orthodontic care, including management of:

  • Complex orthodontic cases
  • Interdisciplinary orthodontic treatment
  • Orthognathic pathway patients
  • Hypodontia cases
  • Secondary care orthodontic services

The role offers close collaborative working with:

  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Paediatric services
  • ENT services
  • Regional tertiary orthodontic and orthognathic teams

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Consultant Orthodontist will:

  • Maintain the highest clinical standards in orthodontic care
  • Diagnose and treat malocclusion and complex orthodontic conditions
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning
  • Support orthognathic and hypodontia services
  • Contribute to clinical governance and audit activities
  • Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME)
  • Support service development initiatives
  • Participate in CPD, research, and quality improvement activities
  • Undertake managerial and leadership responsibilities where appropriate

Person Specification

Requirements

Essential

  • BDS or equivalent qualification
  • Full registration with the UK General Dental Council (GDC)
  • Full registration on the GDC Specialist Register in Orthodontics
  • CCST in Orthodontics or equivalent
  • Evidence of SAC-approved specialist orthodontic training to consultant level or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience
  • Wide experience managing complex orthodontic cases within secondary care
  • Strong multidisciplinary working skills
  • Commitment to clinical governance, audit, and patient safety
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Desirable

  • Additional postgraduate qualifications (MSc, DDS, or equivalent)
  • Teaching and mentoring experience
  • Research and quality improvement involvement
  • Leadership and service development experience
  • Experience contributing to the redesign and improvement of orthodontic services
