An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist to join a well-established Neurology service in Greater London.
You will be part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, working alongside Consultant Neurologists with strong links to leading neuroscience centres. The role is primarily outpatient-based, delivering a comprehensive neurophysiology diagnostic service across multiple sites, with a clear focus on clinical quality, service development, and collaborative working.
The post is designed to support and further develop an established neurophysiology service with a structured workload and no formal on-call commitment.

Main Duties of the Job
Clinical Responsibilities
Deliver a comprehensive neurophysiology service, including:
- Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
- Electromyography (EMG)
- Single Fibre EMG
- Repetitive Nerve Stimulation
- Sympathetic Skin Response & Cutaneous Silent Period
- Neuro-muscular Ultrasound
- Electroencephalography (EEG)
Typical workload includes:
- 5–6 patients per EMG/NCS clinic session
- EEG reporting sessions with routine and ambulatory studies
Multidisciplinary & Service Contribution
- Work collaboratively with:
- Neurology teams
- Allied health professionals
- Regional neuroscience centres
- Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives
- Ensure delivery of a high-quality, patient-centred diagnostic service
Governance, Audit & CPD
- Participate in:
- Clinical governance activities
- Audit and quality improvement programmes
- Engage in continuous professional development supported by:
- 1 SPA session weekly
- Structured appraisal and job planning
Teaching & Education
- Contribute to the teaching of:
- Junior doctors
- Multidisciplinary team members
- Engage with training and education programmes linked to regional centres
Person Specification
Requirements
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent qualification
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Entry on (or within 6 months of entry to) the GMC Specialist Register in Clinical Neurophysiology
- Minimum 1 year NHS experience
- Strong experience in:
- NCS / EMG
- EEG reporting
- Neurophysiology diagnostics
Desirable
- Formal training in neurology/neurophysiology posts
- SCE in Neurology or equivalent
- Experience in:
- Teaching and training
- Clinical audit and research
