An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Breast Radiologist to join a progressive Radiology service in Wales. This is a new Consultant post within an established breast imaging team comprising 3 Consultant Breast Radiologists, 1 Consultant Radiographer, and 1 Advanced Practitioner.

This role is ideal for a motivated Radiologist with specialist breast imaging expertise who wishes to contribute to high-quality symptomatic and screening breast services, multidisciplinary cancer care, teaching, and service development. Main Duties of the Job

  • Provide Consultant-led Breast Radiology services across symptomatic and diagnostic pathways.
  • Report mammography examinations accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform breast and axillary ultrasound assessments.
  • Undertake image-guided breast and axillary biopsies.
  • Participate in symptomatic breast assessment clinics.
  • Attend and contribute actively to the Breast MDT.
  • Support patient-centred breast cancer diagnostic pathways.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, nurses, and allied health professionals.
  • Contribute to governance, audit, quality improvement, and service planning.
  • Participate in teaching and supervision of trainees, radiographers, and students.
  • Optional participation in on-call and duty radiologist rotas if mutually agreed.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Licence to Practise
  • FRCR
  • On GMC Specialist Register in Radiology (or eligible within 6 months of interview)

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification
  • Higher qualification in Medical Education

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 1 year NHS experience
  • Previous NHS Radiology experience
  • Competence in mammography reporting
  • Ability to perform breast ultrasound examinations
  • Ability to undertake breast interventional procedures
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary team working
  • Teaching and training experience
  • Audit and quality improvement involvement

Desirable

  • Breast MRI reporting
  • Service development experience
  • Research in Radiology
  • Screening programme experience
