An exciting opportunity has arisen for forward-thinking, dynamic, and enthusiastic Consultant Rheumatologists to join an established Rheumatology service in Wales. The department currently operates within a supportive multidisciplinary structure, including Consultants, Speciality Doctors, Specialist Registrars, and specialist nurse practitioners.

The successful candidate will be expected to integrate quickly into the service, ensuring continuity of patient care and smooth transfer of clinical workload. Main Duties of the Job
- Provide comprehensive Consultant-led Rheumatology services for adult patients.
- Diagnose and independently manage a wide range of rheumatological and musculoskeletal disorders, including complex diseases such as vasculitis.
- Deliver outpatient new patient, follow-up, and virtual clinics.
- Manage ward referrals and inpatient rheumatology consultations.
- Work collaboratively with Consultants, Specialist Nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in service planning, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Undertake clinical audit and support continuous service development.
- Supervise junior doctors, trainees, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
- Engage in research, CPD, and educational activities.
- Work flexibly across service sites according to operational needs.
- No routine on-call commitment attached to this post.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- Licence to Practise
- On the GMC Specialist Register in Rheumatology, or eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview

- Higher degree / postgraduate diploma
- Teaching qualification or qualification in medical education
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 1 year NHS experience
- Previous experience of NHS working practices and systems
- Independent experience in Rheumatology clinical practice
- Experience in diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal disease
- Experience managing complex rheumatological conditions, including vasculitis
- Evidence of multidisciplinary team working
- Evidence of teaching and training undergraduate/postgraduate staff
- Experience in clinical audit and completed quality improvement work
- Experience working with management and clinical colleagues to improve services
