We are seeking ICU Registrars to join healthcare services across Australia, providing exposure to high-acuity critical care in well-supported, multidisciplinary environments.
This role is ideal for doctors with experience in Critical Care, Anaesthetics, or Acute Medicine who are looking to further develop their Intensive Care skills within the Australian healthcare system.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care for critically ill patients within ICU settings.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including ventilated and high-dependency cases.
- Support the management of organ support therapies, including ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring, and renal support.
- Participate in hospital emergency response and resuscitation teams.
- Perform procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement, and airway management (based on experience).
- Work closely with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Contribute to handovers, documentation, and ongoing patient management plans.
- Support teaching and supervision of junior doctors where appropriate.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Registration
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Eligible via Competent Authority Pathway (UK/Ireland)
Experience
Essential
- Experience at Registrar level in ICU, Anaesthetics, or Acute Medicine
- Experience managing critically ill patients
- Experience within the NHS or equivalent healthcare system
- Minimum 1 year of NHS experience
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical judgement in critical care settings
- Ability to manage high-acuity patients under pressure
- Competence in ICU procedures (desirable depending on level)
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
