An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Resident Doctor in Oncology to join a specialist cancer service in North West England.

This role focuses on delivering high-quality outpatient oncology care within a chemotherapy day unit, supporting patients across their treatment journey. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary oncology team, contributing to personalised treatment plans and delivering a holistic, patient-centred approach to cancer care.

This position offers excellent exposure to both haematological and solid tumour oncology, alongside opportunities to work with highly experienced specialists in a collaborative clinical environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide medical cover for the outpatient chemotherapy day unit.
  • Assess and manage patients undergoing chemotherapy to ensure safe and effective treatment delivery.
  • Review and approve outpatient prescriptions, chemotherapy protocols, and medications.
  • Manage acute oncological presentations and emergencies with consultant support.
  • Work collaboratively with oncology consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver personalised treatment plans.
  • Support the delivery of integrative cancer care addressing physical, emotional, and holistic patient needs.
  • Build strong relationships with a diverse outpatient cohort to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and documentation.
  • Contribute to service development as oncology services continue to expand.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Registration

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
  • Full MRCP qualification.
  • Completion of Foundation Training.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 4 years of clinical experience, including oncology exposure.
  • Experience managing oncology patients across haematological and solid tumour cases.
  • Experience working in outpatient or chemotherapy settings.
  • Experience working within NHS systems.
  • Minimum 1 year of NHS experience.

Desirable

  • Experience in acute oncology or chemotherapy day unit settings.
  • Experience in private or integrative oncology care environments.
