An exciting opportunity is available for experienced Emergency Department Registrars to join well-resourced emergency departments across Australia. This opportunity is well-suited to UK-trained or UK-experienced doctors seeking international clinical exposure while maintaining high standards of emergency care delivery.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality emergency assessment, resuscitation, diagnosis, and treatment across a broad range of acute presentations.
  • Manage undifferentiated patients in a fast-paced emergency department environment.
  • Perform relevant emergency procedures in line with clinical competency and governance standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with consultants, nursing teams, and allied health professionals.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and safe handover practices.
  • Participate in clinical audit, governance activity, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Support junior medical staff and contribute to team-based service delivery.
  • Participate in rota-based shift work, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
 

Person Specification

Eligibility & Registration

Essential

  • Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Working at the F4+ level or equivalent.
  • Significant Emergency Medicine (A&E) experience post-Foundation training (locum, trust-grade or fellowship experience accepted).
  • If you graduated from a non-UK medical school, you must have:
    • Completed PLAB, and
    • Worked in the UK for a minimum of 12 months.
  • Eligibility for medical registration in Australia (support provided).
 

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years’ Emergency Medicine experience.
  • Experience managing high-acuity and undifferentiated emergency presentations.
  • Minimum 1 year of NHS experience.

Desirable

  • Exposure to trauma centres or high-volume emergency departments.
  • Prior international clinical experience.

  • Strong clinical judgement, prioritisation, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork capability.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure clinical environments.
