An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Consultant in Medical Oncology to join a leading NHS service in the East Midlands. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care across designated oncology tumour sites, ensuring safe, evidence-based treatment and management of all patients.
- Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, maintaining the highest standards of national cancer care and peer review compliance.
- Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues, nursing teams, and allied health professionals to deliver integrated oncology services.
- Take shared responsibility for the effective clinical and operational performance of the oncology department.
- Actively contribute to departmental and trust-wide clinical governance, quality assurance, and service improvement initiatives.
- Engage in clinical research and trials, supporting innovation and continuous improvement in oncology practice.
- Participate in teaching and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare staff.
- Undertake continuing professional development (CPD), annual appraisal, and revalidation activities.
- Contribute to management discussions, policy development, and long-term service planning.
- Maintain compliance with all professional, departmental, and NHS policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Complete GMC Registration with a licence to practise.
- MRCP (UK) or an equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR(CP) at interview).
- Minimum 1 year of NHS experience.
- Proven competence in the management of solid tumour oncology.
- Strong commitment to multidisciplinary working, quality improvement, and clinical leadership.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and team collaboration skills.
Desirable Attributes
- Active participation in clinical research and national trials.
- Previous involvement in teaching, audit, and service redesign.
- Interest in developing subspecialty expertise within the department.
- Experience in contributing to CESR mentorship or oncology trainee supervision.
