An exciting opportunity has arisen for Emergency Medicine Registrars (ST4 or above) to join a dynamic and progressive Emergency Department within the North West region. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop both clinical expertise and leadership skills in a supportive environment, working alongside a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering outstanding emergency care.

The post provides exposure to a wide range of emergency presentations and supports career development towards senior leadership roles within the speciality.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care to patients within the Emergency Department under consultant supervision.
  • Manage acute and emergency presentations efficiently and safely.
  • Participate in quality improvement, audit, and service development initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in rota planning, team leadership, and departmental management activities as appropriate to training level.
  • Participate in a 24/7 middle-grade rota using self-rostering, supported by consultants and a robust clinical team.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to ensure seamless patient flow and high-quality emergency care delivery.

Requirements

  • Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Enrolment in a UK Emergency Medicine training programme (ST4 or above).
  • Minimum 1 year of NHS experience within Emergency Medicine.
  • Evidence of satisfactory ARCP outcomes and good standing within the current training programme.
  • Approval from the Training Programme Director (TPD) to apply.
  • Strong clinical acumen and ability to work autonomously when required.

Desirable

  • MRCEM or FRCEM Primary qualification.
  • Additional degrees or postgraduate qualifications (e.g., MSc, MD, PhD).
  • Valid ALS, ATLS, ETC, or APLS certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, service improvement, or education.
