Locum Consultant - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

We are inviting applications for Locum Consultant positions in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery within a dynamic and expanding department in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
This opportunity is ideal for enthusiastic and forward-thinking Maxillofacial Surgeons who are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care while contributing to the continued development of leading regional services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery care, including outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, and inpatient management.
- Participate in the 1:7 on-call rota, covering a diverse patient population across the region, with a structured 7-day pattern and Friday morning handover.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to maintain and enhance the quality and scope of regional services.
- Contribute to the teaching and supervision of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees, with opportunities to be involved in research and academic activity.
- Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based clinical practice in accordance with Trust and GMC standards.
- Engage in service development initiatives and quality improvement projects to support the continuous enhancement of patient outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Full GMC and GDC registration with a valid licence to practise.
- MRCS and MFDS (or equivalent) qualifications.
- Minimum of 6 months UK experience at Consultant level within Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in both clinic and theatre settings.
- Proven knowledge and skills in the management of a wide range of Maxillofacial conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Desirable Attributes
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery via CCT, CESR, or European Community Rights (or within six months of eligibility).
- Substantive NHS experience in a similar post.
- MD or equivalent higher degree, or evidence of research involvement.
- Fellowship or specialist interest in Head and Neck Oncology.
- Experience in supervising postgraduate trainees and undertaking quality improvement or audit projects.
Additional Information
- Contract: Fixed term, up to 24 months.
- On-call commitment: 1:7 rota with a 5% availability supplement.
- Programmed Activities (PAs): 10 core PAs with up to 2 additional available.
- Cross-site working: Required across regional hospital sites.
