We are seeking an experienced and motivated Speciality Doctor in Emergency Medicine to join a dynamic and supportive Emergency Department in the South West Region.

The Emergency Department manages approximately 70,000 attendances annually, catering to both adults and children, and functions as an accredited Trauma Unit. This provides diverse exposure to acute medical, surgical, and trauma cases, allowing you to broaden your experience and refine your clinical skills in an engaging and well-supported environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality assessment, investigation, management, and referral of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Supervise and support junior doctors (F1, F2, and ST VTS) and allied health professionals, maintaining high clinical standards across all levels.
- Ensure effective floor management and allocate staff appropriately during shifts.
- Lead the Trauma Team and Cardiac Arrest Team when activated.
- Participate in the Major Incident Plan and respond promptly to emergencies as required.
- Deliver on-the-floor teaching to medical students, junior doctors, and nursing staff.
- Undertake and contribute to departmental audits, research, and quality improvement projects.
- Liaise effectively with colleagues across inpatient specialities, psychiatric liaison teams, and community care partners to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Participate in clinical governance, risk management, and service improvement initiatives.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- MBBS / MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
- ALS / ACLS certification (or a confirmed place on a course).
- ATLS / APLS / PALS / EPLS certification.
- Minimum of 4 years’ post-graduate experience, including at least 2 years in the NHS at SHO level or above.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a wide range of acute and emergency presentations.
Desirable
- MRCEM (or equivalent).
- Any of the FRCEM examinations.
- Experience in Emergency Medicine speciality training outside the UK.
