We are seeking a dedicated and well-organised Consultant in Clinical Oncology to join a leading regional cancer service in the South East. This is a full-time position providing expert oncology care within a modern, well-resourced environment. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a dynamic and multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality systemic and radiotherapy cancer treatments.

Primary Duties of the Job
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide expert Oncology care to patients referred to the service.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) and collaborative clinical decision-making.
- Deliver systemic therapies and radiotherapy (including stereotactic techniques) as appropriate.
- Participate in out-of-hours on-call Oncology service and consultant ward cover.
- Cover for consultant colleagues during periods of leave and support overall rota coordination.
- Participate in clinical trials, audits, and local research initiatives.
- Ensure high standards of clinical governance are met and maintained.
Junior Medical Staff Supervision
- Participate in the clinical and educational supervision of trainees.
- Take an active role in the teaching and professional development of junior doctors.
- Support junior staff in their clinical duties and professional conduct.
Management & Service Development
- Work closely with clinical and operational leads to develop and implement service improvements.
- Take part in the management of departmental resources to ensure effective and efficient care delivery.
- Support the ongoing modernisation and innovation of oncology services.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and financial governance standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Complete registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a licence to practise.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Evidence of continued professional development (e.g. higher medical qualification desirable).
Experience
- Broad and recent experience in the management of Oncology patients.
- Relevant experience in the delivery of both systemic therapies and radiotherapy.
- Experience managing oncological emergencies.
- Demonstrated participation in teaching, research, and clinical governance activities.
