We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Consultant Haematologist to join a collaborative and highly regarded haematology team in the East Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist with a passion for non-malignant haematology, particularly red cell disorders and general haematology.
The successful candidate will work alongside a friendly, experienced team and will have the flexibility to develop sub-specialty interests in related areas of non-malignant haematology. The post includes a non-resident on-call rota and provides excellent clinical support across specialist services, including haemoglobinopathies and regional TTP care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver high-quality care across non-malignant haematology, including red cell disorders and general haematology.
- Provide specialist care within regional haemoglobinopathy services, working alongside a network of paediatric haematologists, specialist nurses, and haemoglobinopathy centres.
- Contribute to the regional TTP network, offering on-call support for this essential service.
- Participate in clinical haematology ward rounds and consultant-led clinics.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team across clinical and laboratory services to ensure safe, timely, and effective patient care.
- Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, educational supervision, and clinical audit activities.
- Participate in clinical governance, service improvement, and departmental development.
- Contribute to the non-resident on-call rota (1 in 5), covering non-malignant haematology and TTP services.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (or within six months of interview) or CESR equivalent.
- Experience and demonstrated interest in non-malignant haematology, particularly red cells and general haematology.
- Participation in clinical audit and good clinical practice (GCP) training.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the service.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in delivering teaching and educational supervision.
- Interest in clinical research or leadership roles within the speciality.
- Prior involvement in service transformation or quality improvement initiatives.
