Consultant General Radiologist - WSI in Breast Radio

We are excited to support the recruitment of a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Breast Radiology in the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Radiology department during exciting transformation and innovation in regional healthcare delivery.

This post is ideally suited to a General Cross-sectional Radiologist with subspecialty experience in Breast Imaging who is looking to combine general radiology work with specialist breast sessions, including contributions to the symptomatic breast service and the National Breast Screening Programme.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality imaging services across Breast and General Radiology, with flexibility around remote reporting.
  • Active participation in one-stop symptomatic breast clinics, MDTs, and screening assessments.
  • Close collaboration with a dedicated team of Breast Clinicians, Pathologists, Surgeons, and Specialist Nurses.
  • Contributing to the two-week wait cancer pathway, breast MRI, and image-guided interventions, including biopsies and localisations.
  • Teaching, clinical audit, research, and service development are encouraged and supported.

Overview:

  • Out-of-hours CT reporting is outsourced, and radiologists are equipped with home reporting capabilities, including AGFA workstations and voice recognition.
  • The successful candidate will also contribute to general imaging (MRI, CT, US, and plain films) depending on experience.
  • A flexible and evolving job plan is reviewed regularly to support individual development and service needs.
  • Opportunity to support the Trust's broader transformation goals, including GIRFT, digitalisation, and EPR implementation.

Requirements:

  • A GMC-registered Radiologist with or within 6 months of CCT in Clinical Radiology.
  • Strong experience in Breast Imaging, including MR and image-guided procedures.
  • Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary teams, with excellent communication and teaching skills.
  • Candidates with additional experience in general or emergency radiology are also encouraged to apply.
