Histopathology (with Interest in Gynae) - Consultant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Histopathologist with a specialist interest in Gynaecological Pathology to join a leading cellular pathology team in the North West. This well-established team is part of a recognised tertiary referral centre with a strong regional and national reputation.
The cellular pathology service is a specialist laboratory hub for the Cheshire and Merseyside network, serving as the main training centre for pathology trainees and maintaining strong academic ties with a local university. The department has recently relocated to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, and with the full implementation of digital pathology, this is an excellent time to join a dynamic and expanding team.
Main Duties of the Role
- Significant involvement in the gynaecological pathology specialist team, working closely with clinicians and fellow pathologists.
- Participation in a full range of diagnostic work within the subspecialty.
- Opportunities to contribute to the teaching and training of junior medical staff and biomedical scientists.
- Flexible working arrangements, including home working, are supported.

Qualifications and Training
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Full and specialist registration (or eligibility for registration within six months) with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- UK-trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of obtaining it by the interview date.
- Non-UK trained applicants must provide evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent training/experience.
Skills and Experience
- Sufficient experience in cellular pathology to meet the above qualifications.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Experience in clinical audit and commitment to clinical governance.
- Enthusiasm for teaching both medical and non-medical staff.
- Dedication to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
