Acute Medicine - Consultant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Acute Medicine to join a dynamic and innovative medical team in South East England. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, developing innovative clinical practices, and providing leadership in medical education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct general medicine ward rounds and participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
  • Develop working policies and pathways in collaboration with hospital departments, General Practitioners, nursing teams, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Innovate clinical patient management strategies, focusing on high-quality care and strengthening the links between emergency and acute medicine.
  • Contribute to the teaching and training of medical trainees, junior doctors, nursing staff, primary care colleagues, and medical students.
  • Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) to ensure the highest standards of clinical care.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • Must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Acute Medicine or General Medicine OR within six months of attaining specialist registration if currently in a UK training program.
  • Holds a valid Licence to Practise.
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Acute and General Medicine.
  • Ability to provide expert clinical opinions on a range of complex medical conditions.
  • Proven ability to lead and collaborate with professionals across disciplines.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD).
  • Broad experience in Acute Medicine, General Medicine, and Medical Education.
