An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ENT Consultant (Head & Neck) to join an expanding and supportive ENT department in North West England.
The successful candidate will deliver consultant-led inpatient and outpatient ENT services, managing a broad range of ENT conditions with a specialist focus on Head & Neck surgery. The role includes outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, Neck Lump Clinics, multidisciplinary team meetings and emergency on-call responsibilities while contributing to the ongoing development of modern ENT services.
This position also offers excellent opportunities for leadership, education, research and service development within a progressive department committed to high-quality patient care.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-led outpatient ENT clinics.
• Perform benign Head & Neck surgery, diagnostic surgical procedures and routine ENT operations.
• Support the weekly Neck Lump Clinic alongside radiology colleagues and fast-track patient pathways.
• Participate in Head & Neck MDT and Thyroid MDT meetings.
• Assess and manage a wide range of ENT conditions.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options and post-operative care.
• Contribute to the transformation of inpatient and outpatient services.
• Participate in the 1:5 consultant on-call rota, including weekends and prospective cover.
• Supervise and teach junior doctors and trainees.
• Contribute to departmental clinical governance, education and service improvement activities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Full GMC Registration.
• FRCS (or equivalent higher surgical qualification).
• Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or working towards CESR (or equivalent recognised route).

Desirable

• Relevant higher degree, diploma or postgraduate qualification.

Experience & Skills

Essential

• NHS experience.
• Broad clinical ENT experience.
• Subspecialty interest in Head & Neck surgery.
• Understanding of NHS management practices.
• Evidence of clinical audit participation.
• Commitment to teaching medical and non-medical staff.
• Willingness to actively participate in departmental meetings.
• Commitment to continuing professional development.
