An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Dermatologist to join a dynamic Dermatology service in North West England.
This fixed-term post offers the opportunity to provide high-quality consultant-led Dermatology care across outpatient clinics, skin cancer services, minor operations and inpatient referrals. A specialist interest is welcomed, with dedicated time available for teaching, clinical governance, research and continuing professional development. There are no on-call commitments, providing an excellent work-life balance.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-led Dermatology outpatient clinics.
• Undertake minor skin surgery procedures.
• Manage urgent and routine GP referrals.
• Provide inpatient Dermatology consultations and advice for other specialities.
• Participate in multidisciplinary skin cancer meetings.
• Contribute to departmental management and service development.
• Supervise junior doctors and multidisciplinary staff.
• Participate in audit, quality improvement, teaching and research.
• Support clinical governance and evidence-based practice.
• Deliver Advice & Guidance sessions and direct patient administration.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register (or within six months of CCT).
• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
• MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification.

Desirable

• MD/PhD or equivalent higher qualification.

Experience & Skills

Essential

• Previous NHS experience.
• Clinical expertise in managing a broad range of Dermatology conditions.
• Ability to provide expert clinical opinion and supervise patient management.
• Experience supervising doctors and allied healthcare professionals.
• Evidence of teaching and training.
• Experience undertaking clinical audit and quality improvement.
• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working skills.
• Up-to-date knowledge and commitment to safe clinical practice.
• Good organisational, prioritisation and IT skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Desirable

• Research experience, publications or presentations.
• Experience supervising medical students and speciality trainees.
• Peer review or formal feedback demonstrating teaching ability.
• Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical practice.
