An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Older Adult Psychiatry Consultant to join a well-established mental health service in the East Midlands.
The successful candidate will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for older adults presenting with functional mental illness, dementia and other complex psychiatric conditions. Working within a highly experienced multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to both community and inpatient services while supporting service development, clinical governance, education and quality improvement.
Flexible working arrangements are available with both 6 PA and 10 PA contracts being considered.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide Consultant-led assessment, diagnosis and management of older adults with mental health disorders.
• Deliver high-quality care across community and inpatient services.
• Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and support integrated patient care.
• Undertake Mental Health Act assessments where appropriate.
• Provide clinical leadership within Older Adult Psychiatry services.
• Supervise Speciality Doctors, trainees and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.
• Support undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with GMC and NHS standards.

Person Specification

Essential

Qualifications & Registration

• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise.
• GMC Specialist Registration (or within six months of CCT).
• Section 12 Approval.
• Approved Clinician (AC) Status.
• Previous NHS Consultant or equivalent experience in Older Adult Psychiatry.

Clinical Experience

• Extensive experience in Older Adult Psychiatry.
• Expertise in assessment and management of dementia, depression, anxiety and other psychiatric disorders affecting older adults.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary mental health teams.
• Experience supervising junior doctors and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Participation in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement.
