An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) providing high-quality care for adults with a wide range of mental health conditions.This substantive Consultant role offers the chance to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team while contributing to service development, teaching, leadership and quality improvement. The service follows a modern team-based approach, allowing Consultants to focus on complex clinical decision-making and leadership rather than maintaining an individual caseload.
The Role
You will:
- Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults with complex mental health conditions.
- Deliver clinical leadership within the Community Mental Health Team.
- Support multidisciplinary team meetings and provide expert psychiatric advice.
- Conduct outpatient assessments, reviews and CPA meetings.
- Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate.
- Work closely with GPs, community services, inpatient teams and external agencies.
- Act as the Responsible Clinician for patients subject to Community Treatment Orders.
- Participate in teaching, audit, research and continuous service improvement.

Person Specific
Requirements
Essential
Applicants must have:- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- GMC Specialist Registration in General Adult Psychiatry (or be within six months of CCT).
- Approved Clinician status (or be able to obtain this within three months).
- Section 12 approval (or be able to obtain this within three months).
- Experience assessing and treating patients in a community mental health setting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
- Experience in teaching, audit and research.
Desirable
- CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
- MRCPsych (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Higher degree (MD, PhD, MSc or equivalent).
- Previous leadership or management training.
