We are recruiting on behalf of a leading NHS organisation in the East of England for a full-time Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngologist (ENT).

This replacement Consultant post offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and expanding ENT service with a strong focus on paediatric otolaryngology. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering specialist care for children with both routine and complex ENT conditions while contributing to the continued development of tertiary paediatric ENT services across the region.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality elective and emergency Paediatric ENT services.
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of paediatric otolaryngology conditions.
• Contribute to the investigation and management of neonatal hearing loss.
• Participate in the multidisciplinary cleft palate service.
• Support the development of tertiary and complex paediatric ENT services.
• Perform specialist paediatric ENT surgical procedures.
• Work collaboratively with audiology, anaesthetics and wider multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement programmes.
• Teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees.
• Participate in clinical research and service innovation.
• Contribute to the consultant on-call rota.

Person Specification

Essential

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration.
• Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register via CCT, CESR or equivalent.
• MBBS (or equivalent medical qualification).
• FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent.
• CCT (or expected within 6 months of interview).

Experience

• Comprehensive training and experience in Otolaryngology.
• Good working knowledge of contemporary ENT practice.
• Training and expertise in children's safeguarding.
• Overseas applicants must demonstrate equivalent specialist training where applicable.

Clinical Skills

• Ability to independently manage a wide range of paediatric ENT conditions.
• Specialist interest in, or willingness to develop expertise in, Paediatric Otology.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
• Commitment to service development and teaching.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Communication & Professional Skills

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple specialities.
• Flexible approach to service delivery across multiple sites.
• Ability to participate in the consultant on-call rota.

Desirable

Qualifications

• Diploma in Medical Education (or equivalent).
• MD, PhD or other higher academic qualification

Experience

• Fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology.
• Specialist interest in Paediatric Otolaryngology.
• Significant teaching experience within an academic surgical environment.
• Research experience or peer-reviewed publications.
• Previous responsibility for service improvement.
• Experience participating in a clinical audit.
• Management experience.
• Track record of securing research funding.
