An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neurologist to join a growing and progressive Neurology service in the West Midlands.

This Consultant Neurology post offers the opportunity to work within a friendly, collaborative multidisciplinary department, delivering high-quality outpatient and inpatient neurological care across a broad range of acute and chronic neurological conditions.

The successful candidate will join an expanding Neurology team with opportunities to develop sub-specialist interests, participate in teaching and research activities, and contribute to ongoing service development and clinical innovation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Consultant Neurologist will:

• Provide consultant-led Neurology services for outpatient and inpatient care
• Deliver high-quality evidence-based neurological assessment and treatment
• Manage acute and chronic neurological disorders
• Support inpatient Neurology referrals and ward consultations
• Participate in multidisciplinary team working
• Provide expert advice to medical and clinical colleagues
• Support development of Neurology pathways and services
• Contribute to outpatient clinic delivery and referral triaging
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement
• Supervise and support junior doctors and trainees
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching
• Contribute to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities
• Support nurse specialist and allied healthcare professional education
• Participate in departmental management and service planning activities
• Support development of specialist Neurology services and innovation initiatives

Person Specification

Requirements

Essential

• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
• MRCP or equivalent postgraduate qualification
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology or within 6 months of CCT/CESR
• Minimum 1 year NHS experience
• Broad experience in General Neurology
• Ability to independently manage acute and chronic neurological disorders
• Strong multidisciplinary team working skills
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Experience in clinical governance and audit
• Knowledge of evidence-based Neurology practice
• Commitment to education, teaching, and service development

Desirable

• Sub-specialist Neurology interest
• Higher postgraduate qualification (MSc, MD, PhD or equivalent)
• Research and publication experience
• Experience supervising postgraduate research
• Participation in national audits
• Evidence of implementing evidence-based guidelines
• Leadership or departmental management experience
• Interest in Neurology pathway improvement and innovation
