An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Breast Radiologist to join a progressive Radiology service in Wales. This is a new Consultant post within an established breast imaging team comprising 3 Consultant Breast Radiologists, 1 Consultant Radiographer, and 1 Advanced Practitioner.
This role is ideal for a motivated Radiologist with specialist breast imaging expertise who wishes to contribute to high-quality symptomatic and screening breast services, multidisciplinary cancer care, teaching, and service development. Applicants with 1 year of NHS experience are encouraged to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
- Provide Consultant-led Breast Radiology services across symptomatic and diagnostic pathways.
- Report mammography examinations accurately and efficiently.
- Perform breast and axillary ultrasound assessments.
- Undertake image-guided breast and axillary biopsies.
- Participate in symptomatic breast assessment clinics.
- Attend and contribute actively to the Breast MDT.
- Support patient-centred breast cancer diagnostic pathways.
- Collaborate with surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Contribute to governance, audit, quality improvement, and service planning.
- Participate in teaching and supervision of trainees, radiographers, and students.
- Optional participation in on-call and duty radiologist rotas if mutually agreed.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- Licence to Practise
- FRCR
- On GMC Specialist Register in Radiology (or eligible within 6 months of interview)
Desirable
- Teaching qualification
- Higher qualification in Medical Education
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 1 year NHS experience
- Previous NHS Radiology experience
- Competence in mammography reporting
- Ability to perform breast ultrasound examinations
- Ability to undertake breast interventional procedures
- Evidence of multidisciplinary team working
- Teaching and training experience
- Audit and quality improvement involvement
Desirable
- Breast MRI reporting
- Service development experience
- Research in Radiology
- Screening programme experience
