An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Radiologist with an interest in Breast Imaging to join a well-established radiology service in South East England.
The successful candidate will join a large and supportive consultant team, contributing to both general radiology and breast imaging services. The role offers opportunities to develop subspecialty interests, participate in service development, and engage in teaching, audit, and quality improvement within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality radiology services, including breast imaging and general radiology reporting.
- Interpret imaging across modalities, including CT, MRI, and breast imaging investigations.
- Participate in the radiology on-call rota, including post-call review and quality assurance of imaging.
- Support weekend imaging services, including urgent MRI reporting (e.g., malignant cord compression).
- Contribute to quality assurance processes by reviewing and validating imaging reports.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including breast MDTs and wider clinical services.
- Participate in the development and improvement of radiology services.
- Engage in teaching and supervision of radiology trainees and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to audit, clinical governance, and continuous professional development activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Registration
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR or equivalent).
Desirable
- Higher degree (MD or equivalent).
- Additional postgraduate qualifications or diplomas.
Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience in General Radiology, including CT and MRI reporting.
- Experience in breast imaging and related diagnostic procedures.
- Experience working within NHS radiology services.
- Minimum 1 year of NHS experience.
Desirable
- Fellowship or subspecialty training in Breast Radiology or related field.
