An opportunity has arisen for a CMO / Senior Registrar with an interest in Oncology to join a dedicated cancer care service in Australia. The role focuses on the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of oncology patients across outpatient and inpatient settings.

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred cancer care while supporting service coordination, clinical decision-making, and continuity of care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical assessments and reviews of oncology patients receiving chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy.
  • Provide ongoing outpatient care for cancer patients in collaboration with consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Perform inpatient consultations for oncology patients admitted under other specialities.

Multidisciplinary & Communication

  • Work closely with consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Facilitate effective communication between oncology services and wider hospital teams, including emergency care pathways.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and contribute to collaborative clinical decision-making.

Quality Improvement & Governance

  • Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, and service development activities.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to patient safety and governance standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Registration

Essential

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Eligibility for registration with the relevant medical board in Australia.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification or training in Oncology or related speciality.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working at the CMO / Senior Registrar level or equivalent.
  • Experience in Oncology or managing oncology patients in acute or outpatient settings.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical cases within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of NHS experience.

Desirable

  • Experience in chemotherapy and/or radiation oncology services.
  • Previous international clinical experience.
