Occupational Health - Registrar
Apply nowAn opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Health Registrar to join a specialist Occupational Health service in Greater London.
The role involves supporting the Occupational Health team in delivering clinical assessments and management advice for staff health issues. The postholder will assess management referrals, provide occupational health advice, and contribute to clinical discussions and service governance.
The position offers experience in occupational health medicine within the NHS, working closely with occupational health physicians, HR teams, and service managers to ensure safe and effective workplace health management.
Main Duties of the Job
Clinical and Management Activity
Approximately 6 hours per week will be dedicated to clinical and management responsibilities, including:
- Manage management referral cases, with a maximum of up to five referrals per working day, depending on service requirements.
- Undertake clinical assessments and provide occupational health advice in relation to referrals.
- Deliver recommendations regarding:
- Fitness for work
- Workplace adjustments
- Return-to-work planning
- Occupational health risks
- Participate in case discussions and professional meetings relevant to occupational health case management.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reports in accordance with occupational health standards and organisational policies.
Administrative and Professional Activity
Approximately 2 hours per week will be dedicated to administrative and professional responsibilities, including:
- Manage email correspondence to ensure timely responses and maintain case management continuity.
- Address queries arising from referrals, previous meetings, or ongoing casework
- Complete required administrative tasks and documentation related to occupational health assessments
- Ensure accurate record keeping in accordance with organisational policy and occupational health procedures.
Governance, Development and Integration
- Maintain familiarity with service policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal clinical pathways.
- Ensure high standards of occupational health reporting and documentation.
- Participate in regular review and feedback meetings with line management.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement of occupational health processes.
- Maintain professional standards consistent with clinical governance and NHS practice requirements
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Medical Degree
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
Desirable
- Interest or experience in Occupational Health Medicine
- Progress toward training within the Faculty of Occupational Medicine pathway
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Minimum 1 year NHS experience
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment
Desirable
- Experience in Occupational Health, General Practice, Internal Medicine or Public Health
- Experience conducting fitness for work assessments or clinical advisory work
Professional Skills
Essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to produce clear, professional occupational health reports
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Good organisational and time management skills
