A high-priority opportunity for Emergency Medicine Registrars and Senior RMOs to join a growing Emergency Department workforce in Australia. The service is actively transitioning from a locum-heavy model to a stable permanent workforce, with multiple vacancies available for international doctors.
Main Duties of the Job
- Deliver frontline Emergency Medicine care across a broad range of acute presentations
- Assess, stabilise and manage patients within the ED under consultant supervision
- Participate in clinical decision-making, resuscitation and escalation pathways
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe patient flow
- Support junior doctors and contribute to a positive learning environment
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in clinical governance activities
Workforce & Hiring Context
- Current workforce: ~40 doctors (approximately two-thirds locum)
- Strategic goal: Recruit 20 permanent doctors during 2026
- Flexible hiring approach with capacity for multiple international hires (3–6+) simultaneously
Contract Options
- Permanent roles available
- Long-term locum contracts considered
- FIFO or consistent locum cover up to 6 months is welcomed
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 1 year NHS experience
- Emergency Medicine experience appropriate to Registrar or Senior RMO level
- Strong teamwork, adaptability and commitment to ED service delivery
- Suitable for international candidates seeking permanent or longer-term Australian roles
