An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neurologist to join a friendly and expanding neurology service in the South West. This role offers a strong work–life balance, flexibility in scheduling, and the opportunity to develop a subspecialty interest while delivering high-quality general neurology care.
The post holder will provide both outpatient and inpatient neurology services, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, evidence-based patient care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver a high-quality general neurology service using evidence-based practice
- Provide outpatient neurology clinics and inpatient neurology consultation support
- Participate in ward-based referrals and advice for acute and chronic neurological conditions
- Develop and lead a subspecialty interest that complements service needs
- Advise and support medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and service development activities
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
- Engage in clinical audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities
- Support service planning and pathway development at the local and regional levels
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and patient safety

- Supporting Professional Activities: Teaching, audit, CPD, appraisal, governance

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology or within 6 months of CCT
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year NHS experience
Desirable
- Higher degree (MD, MSc, PhD or equivalent)
- Subspecialty expertise within Neurology
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Broad training and experience in general neurology
- Ability to independently manage acute and chronic neurological conditions
- Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and evidence-based practice
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Experience developing or leading a specialist neurology service
- Participation in research, audit, or service improvement projects
