An excellent opportunity is available for a Consultant Neurologist to join a well-established medical service in Jersey. The post offers a structured consultant job plan, exposure to a broad range of neurological practice, and the opportunity to contribute to service development, education, and clinical governance within a multidisciplinary environment.
The successful applicant will provide high-quality neurological care across inpatient and outpatient settings and contribute to the wider delivery of specialist and general medical services.
Proposed Job Plan
- Fixed 10 PA consultant contract for public work (non-negotiable).
- Final job plan to be agreed with the Clinical Lead for General and Specialist Medicine, Associate Medical Director for Medical Services, Hospital Director, and ratified by the Medical Director.
- Job plan reviewed annually in line with appraisal and current guidance.
- Provision for a lunch break between morning and afternoon sessions when both are clinical.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, and high-quality neurological care to inpatients and outpatients.
- Provide expert neurological opinion within a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Participate in service delivery across neurology and related medical services as required.
- Support teaching, training, and supervision of junior doctors and undergraduate students.
- Engage in clinical audit, governance, and risk management activities.
- Contribute to service improvement and development initiatives.
- Maintain professional standards in line with GMC requirements and participate in annual appraisal and revalidation.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Primary Medical Degree.
- MRCP or equivalent higher speciality qualification.
- Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (Neurology) or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
- Minimum 1 year of NHS experience or equivalent clinical environment.
- Broad clinical experience in Neurology.
- ALS certification.
- Evidence of training and/or experience as a CCDC.
- Broad IT skills.
- For non-UK-trained applicants, evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT is required.
Desirable Qualifications
- MD or equivalent higher degree.
