An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Clinical Oncologist to join a highly regarded Urology Oncology team in the South East of England. This is a 12-month fixed-term post providing maternity cover, with scope to extend or discuss additional programmed activities (PAs) for candidates wishing to work more than the standard 7 PA contract.

The post offers the opportunity to manage a wide range of urological malignancies, with responsibilities spanning both radiotherapy and systemic oncology. The successful candidate will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team alongside an experienced Consultant Medical Oncologist, specialist nurses, and research staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality oncological care for patients with urological cancers, including prostate, bladder, and renal malignancies.
  • Provide radiotherapy planning and supervision, and contribute to the decision-making process for systemic treatment.
  • Participate in the regional Urology MDT, ensuring integrated patient management across sites.
  • Work within an established prostate brachytherapy programme, supporting advanced treatment pathways.
  • Contribute to the department’s active clinical research portfolio and participate in recruitment for ongoing studies.
  • Engage in clinical audit, governance, and teaching with the broader oncology team.
  • Participate in service development initiatives and maintain strong communication with referring clinicians.

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Completion of higher specialist training in Clinical Oncology.
  • Minimum of one year’s NHS experience post-qualification.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Desirable

  • MRCP/FRCP or equivalent higher qualification.
  • Previous research experience with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and training junior doctors.
  • Evidence of service development, quality improvement, or formal management training.
