An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Speciality Doctor (ST4+) to join the Emergency Medicine team in the South East region. The post is a 10 PA position, with the option for additional sessions under an APA contract, and comes with an individualised job plan tailored to your professional goals. Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency medical care under consultant supervision, managing a wide range of acute presentations.
- Participate in the resuscitation and management of critically ill and injured patients, maintaining up-to-date skills in ALS (ATLS, ETC, desirable but not essential).
- Contribute to teaching and training programmes for medical staff, Physician Associates, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, and undergraduate medical students.
- Engage with departmental improvement initiatives, innovation projects, and service development activities to enhance patient care and workflow efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across multidisciplinary teams, including mental health, pre-hospital, and community services.
- Participate in daily consultant-led ward and CDU rounds, with direct consultant support for self-rostered rotas on weekdays.
- Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, audits, and clinical governance activities.
- Support junior staff in clinical decision-making and development.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional standards at all times.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MREM is essential
- Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Minimum 1 year of NHS experience
Desirable:
- Completion of ALS (mandatory), with ATLS, ETC certification (desirable)
Experience
Essential:
- Experience in Emergency Medicine at ST4 level or higher
- Competence in managing a wide range of emergency presentations
- Evidence of teaching experience or contribution to training programmes
Desirable:
- Interest or experience in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (FAST scanning)
- Involvement in departmental innovation, clinical audit, or quality improvement initiatives
