Consultant Permanent Haematology
Apply nowWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Haematologist to join a dynamic and supportive team providing comprehensive Haematology services across the Yorkshire and Humber region. This is a replacement post, and the successful candidate will join a well-established team of six Consultants delivering high-quality inpatient and outpatient care, including high-intensity chemotherapy services.
The role will primarily be based at the leading hospital site, with some cross-site commitments. You will lead the non-comprehensive Haemophilia centre, providing clinical expertise and leadership in the management of Haemophilia patients and related conditions. The Trust delivers Haematology care to a population of approximately 800,000 and offers the opportunity to work across both clinical and laboratory haematology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a full range of clinical Haematology services, including Haemato-oncology, diagnostic haematology, and transfusion.
- Offer leadership and clinical oversight for the Haemophilia service.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing expert advice on blood film reporting, transfusion, and clotting management.
- Contribute to the delivery of inpatient and outpatient services, including outreach clinics.
- Engage in teaching and mentoring of junior doctors and medical students.
- Participate actively in clinical governance, audit, and service development initiatives.
- Support the recruitment, supervision, and professional development of junior medical staff.
- Maintain compliance with GMC standards and Trust governance frameworks.
Essential Requirements
- Complete GMC registration and licence to practise.
- MRCP and MRCPath (or equivalent).
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Haematology, or within six months of CCT or CESR approval at the time of interview.
- Demonstrable clinical and laboratory Haematology experience at Consultant level.
- Proven ability to work independently in Haemato-oncology, transfusion, and diagnostic haematology.
- Willingness to participate in cross-site service delivery and the 1:7 on-call rota.
Desirable Attributes
- Substantive NHS experience.
- Experience in managing or developing Haemophilia services.
- Evidence of published research or participation in clinical studies.
- Proven contribution to quality improvement, audit, and teaching activities.
- Demonstrated leadership in clinical or educational roles.
