Consultant Radiologist

The Radiology Department offers a comprehensive range of imaging services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency imaging, for a population of approximately 47,000 individuals. You will be part of a minor, high-performing team committed to continuous improvement, clinical excellence, and patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a broad range of diagnostic radiology services, including CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
- Interpret examinations, triage and protocol imaging requests, and collaborate with referring clinicians to ensure accurate and timely patient care.
- Support and supervise radiology technology staff.
- Participate in the on-call roster (currently 1 in 4 nights).
- Optional involvement in light interventional radiology and mammography.
- Engage in teaching opportunities with medical and surgical house officers and radiology registrars within the Midlands Region.
- Contribute to continuous service development and quality improvement initiatives.

The Radiology Department operates within a modern, well-equipped hospital setting, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care rather than profit.
You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the M?tai Medical Research Institute, a state-of-the-art medical imaging research centre located within the hospital campus. The centre focuses on advanced imaging research, including mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), and aims to make the region a global leader in MRI innovation.

Essential Requirements
- Eligible for Vocational Registration in the Scope of Practice of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ), or eligible under the Special Scope of Practice – Locum Tenens pathway.
- Source verification of qualifications (EPIC) as part of the MCNZ registration process.
