Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Lymphoma
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist with an interest in Lymphoma to join a well-established and collaborative Haematology team in the South East.
The appointee will become part of a specialist service that delivers comprehensive clinical and laboratory haematology care across the region. The role includes participation in established multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings for haematological malignancy, working alongside consultants in Haematology, Medical Oncology, and Clinical Oncology.
This post offers the opportunity to contribute to an integrated Haematology service, including inpatient and outpatient care, as well as the teaching of medical students and junior doctors. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to pursue special interests, develop services, and conduct research.
Primary Duties of the Job
The Consultant Haematologist will be responsible for:
- Providing outpatient clinics, including Lymphoma and general Haematology clinics.
- Participating in the weekly Haematology MDT for Lymphoma and other haematological malignancies.
- Supporting the day-case unit and providing medical review as required.
- Delivering ward cover for inpatient lymphoma patients and supporting the suspected lymphoma pathway.
- Offering specialist advice on all aspects of Haematology to colleagues across the Trust and primary care.
- Providing clinical support to the Haematology Laboratory.
- Contributing to departmental meetings, clinical governance, teaching, and training of junior medical staff.
- Participating in the 1:6 on-call rota, which includes ward cover for seven consecutive days (with two scheduled weekday rounds and daily ward rounds at weekends), as well as 24-hour telephone advice.

Qualifications
Essential
- Basic Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent).
- Complete GMC Registration with a licence to practise.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Haematology (or within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview).
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Desirable
- Higher degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent).
- Recognised teaching qualification.
Clinical Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in Haematology with a specialist interest in Lymphoma.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical risk management.
- Experience of working within multi-professional teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality patient care.
Desirable
- Experience in service development, quality improvement, or leadership roles.
- Evidence of research activity and publications.
Teaching & Academic Skills
Essential
- Evidence of commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
- Participation in audit and clinical governance.
