We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Speciality Doctor in Emergency Medicine to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Emergency Department in Greater London. This role is part of a well-resourced and purpose-built Emergency Department, which recently underwent a £25 million redevelopment. The facility features co-located CT scanning, on-site x-ray services, a fully equipped diagnostic laboratory, an ambulatory care department, a 30-bed Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), and an Urgent Care Centre.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Deliver high-quality care to patients attending the Emergency Department
- Conduct patient assessments and treatments within the Emergency Department
- Manage patients admitted to the CDU and perform ward rounds
- Run review clinics, including soft tissue injuries, burns, and wound care
- Support junior clinicians and nurses in clinical decision-making
Teaching and Training
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
- Contribute to the training of nursing staff and Emergency Nurse Practitioners
Governance and Clinical Excellence
- Promote evidence-based practice and guideline development
- Lead and participate in clinical audits, risk management, and safety reviews
- Respond effectively to incidents and complaints, developing action plans
- Maintain continuous professional development in line with emergency medicine standards
Appraisal and Quality Standards
- Engage with job planning and annual appraisal processes
- Adhere to relevant clinical protocols, policies, and procedures
- Attend accredited conferences and training sessions to maintain clinical knowledge
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Complete registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Minimum 12 months of clinical experience in Emergency Medicine
- MRCEM, FRCEM, MEM, PGDEM, DEM, or equivalent EM qualification OR
- At least 24 months of formal clinical experience in Emergency Medicine
- Demonstrated commitment to medical audit and governance
- Current certification in ALS, ATLS, or APLS
Desirable
- Higher medical degree
- Additional certifications: EPLS, APLS, ATLS, etc.
- Experience in teaching and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Emergency ultrasound skills
