Neurology - Consultant
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Neurologist to join a dedicated and supportive team delivering exceptional neurological care in the East Midlands region. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow specialist services while working in a dynamic, patient-focused environment.
Job Summary
This is a substantive consultant post in Neurology, open to individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality care and developing innovative service models. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to general neurology clinics and create a subspecialty interest in line with service needs and personal expertise.
There is also scope to engage in research in collaboration with the local Research and Development team, as well as support and lead on educational and training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centred neurology outpatient and inpatient services.
- Participate in the development of specialist clinics based on personal interest and service needs.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the region.
- Support junior medical staff, participate in teaching and training programmes, and contribute to service development.
- Engage in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with local research teams for clinical research and trials, where appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
- Complete registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- MRCP (UK) or an equivalent recognised qualification
- On the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology, or within 6 months of obtaining a CCT/CESR(CP) at the time of interview
- Broad experience in general neurology with the ability to manage a full clinical workload independently
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, patient safety, and quality of care
Desirable Requirements:
- MD, PhD, or equivalent higher academic degree
- A formal qualification in Medical Education, preferably at Master's level
- Subspecialty interest (e.g., headache, epilepsy, MS, movement disorders, etc.)
- Experience in clinical research or audit with published work
