Dermatology - Consultant

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Dermatologist to join a friendly and progressive Dermatology service in the South West region. The department is focused on delivering high-quality inpatient and outpatient care, maintaining a patient-centred approach, and developing innovative services for the future.
The successful applicant will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of general dermatology, skin cancer services, and minor surgical procedures. The role also includes opportunities to develop specialist interest clinics and actively participate in service transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Outpatient Duties:
- Conduct outpatient clinics, including consultations for new and follow-up patients.
- Perform minor surgical procedures.
- Deliver biologics and Botox clinics.
- Attend weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings for skin cancer.
- Provide clinical supervision and leadership to a highly skilled nursing team.
- Support nurse-led activities and dermatology service development.
Inpatient Duties:
- Provide consultant-led supervision and management of inpatient referrals.
- Undertake medical assessments, manage complex dermatological cases, and liaise with other clinical teams and patient families.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
- Eligible for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of achieving CCT at the time of interview.
Desirable:
- Higher academic qualification (MD, PhD, or equivalent).
Clinical Experience
Essential:
- High-level clinical experience and competence in General Dermatology, including skin cancer diagnosis, management, and dermatological surgery.
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinions and manage complex dermatology cases independently.
- Experience in delivering outpatient, inpatient, and minor surgical dermatology services.
Desirable:
- Awareness of current issues in dermatology and the broader NHS landscape.
- Experience in dermatology service transformation and development.
- Attendance at recognised management or leadership courses.
