Breast Oncologist - Medical/Clinical

An exciting opportunity has arisen at one of the UK’s most prestigious cancer centres in the North West region for a dedicated Consultant Medical Oncologist to join their Breast Medical Oncology team.

This role offers a dynamic blend of responsibilities, combining outpatient breast oncology, research, and strategic development of acute oncology services. You will work in a multidisciplinary and research-driven environment alongside a well-established and highly collaborative team of consultants, nurses, pharmacists, and research staff. We seek a motivated, team-oriented consultant with a strong clinical background in oncology, research interests, and leadership potential. The role will suit someone looking for a varied portfolio, combining direct patient care with strategic service development and academic involvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Breast Oncology :

  • Manage breast cancer patients in outpatient, inpatient and ambulatory settings.

  • Deliver standard and trial-based Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).

  • Provide Medical Oncology input to the Breast MDT.

  • Contribute to research activities and trial portfolio development.

  • Maintain evidence-based clinical protocols and participate in governance, audit, and education.

  • Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training junior doctors and MDT members.

Person Specific:

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • MRCP(UK) or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practise
  • On GMC Specialist Register via CCT (within 6 months of interview) or CESR route
  • Experience in Breast Oncology and/or Acute Oncology
  • Evidence of involvement in clinical governance and audit
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and teaching skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in leading clinical services or pathway development
  • Research involvement and publications
  • Previous teaching and mentorship roles
