An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Gastroenterology to join a forward-thinking, consultant-led service based in Yorkshire.
This role is ideal for a clinician who values long-term patient relationships and is ready to take the next step in their career in a department that offers diverse sub-specialist opportunities and strong collaborative networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
- Perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, with opportunities to specialise in:
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
- Rapid access dyspepsia endoscopy
- Nutrition and hepatology (including elective oesophageal variceal treatment)
- Advanced endoscopy techniques such as stenting and Video Capsule Endoscopy (VCE)
- Participate in upper and lower GI cancer MDTs and collaborate with regional transplant and hepatology units.
- Support service development, audits, training, and clinical governance activities.
Research & Education:
- Join a research-active department supported by a well-established foundation.
- Opportunities to participate in portfolio studies and contribute to national research.
- Be involved in teaching and mentoring junior medical staff and multidisciplinary teams.
What We’re Looking For:
- GMC-registered with a licence to practise
- NHS or Irish experience
- MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
- Proven experience managing complex IBD or hepatology cases.
- A passion for innovation, service development, and collaborative working.
Desirable Skills (But Not Essential):
- Higher medical degree or postgraduate teaching qualification.
- Experience in advanced therapeutic endoscopy (e.g., ERCP, VCE, EMR).
- JAG accreditation for upper and lower GI endoscopy.
