About the Role:

You will join a vibrant multi-disciplinary team to provide expert care for patients with various general medical and oncological needs. The post includes input into the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) and systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) delivery while supporting acute medical patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care for general medical and oncology patients
  • Contribute to and support the delivery of the Acute Oncology Service (AOS)
  • Participate in oncology MDTs and provide site-specific oncology care where needed
  • Support junior doctors, specialist nurses, and allied health professionals through supervision, mentorship, and teaching
  • Work collaboratively to develop pathways that enhance cancer care delivery and acute medical services
  • Participate in clinical audit, research, and service development projects
  • Take part in the general medical on-call rota
  • Help drive service improvements, particularly around cancer waiting time targets and integrated models of care

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • GMC registration with a license to practise
  • Broad experience in acute general medicine and cancer care
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to teaching and continuous improvement

Desirable:

  • CCT (or within 6 months of achieving) in General Internal Medicine and/or Medical Oncology
  • Site-specific oncology interest (e.g., breast, lung, GI)
  • Previous experience in service development or quality improvement
  • Involvement in clinical research or audits
  • Teaching qualifications or leadership training
