An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Specialist Doctor. The successful candidate will play a key role in inpatient and outpatient respiratory care, specialist clinics, and the bronchoscopy and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) service. The role also involves virtual hospital support and participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.

The Specialist Doctor will provide clinical leadership in Bronchiectasis and Asthma, working closely with a team of respiratory partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. There is no commitment to the General Internal Medicine (GIM) on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient care to a respiratory ward, including an Acute Respiratory Care Unit (ARCU).
  • Participate in a weekend NIV on-call rota and a weekday NIV rota, with an availability allowance per NHSE and BMA guidelines.
  • Deliver outpatient clinics per week, including.
  • Participate in the Bronchoscopy rota.
  • Lead and support MDT meetings for Bronchiectasis and Asthma.
  • Conduct Hot Clinics/Virtual Hospital to manage acute referrals from ED and urgent respiratory cases.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • UK Experience
  • Subspecialty experience in Host Defense (Bronchiectasis/TB) and/or Asthma.
  • Experience managing a range of respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, and bronchiectasis.

Desirable:

  • Accredited Educational Supervisor qualification.
  • Experience in service development and innovation.
  • Previous participation in medical education and training, including supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and allied healthcare professionals.
