Acute Medicine - Registrar

A Trust in East Midlands is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated doctors to join their Acute Medicine team, delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As an Acute Medicine Registrar, you will play a key role in assessing and treating patients, contributing to the unplanned and emergency care service in the region.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care in the Acute Medicine Unit, including Same Day Emergency Care services.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, participating in a rotating schedule of day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.
  • Act as a senior decision-maker within the Same Day Emergency Care service, working autonomously when required.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff and paramedical colleagues, demonstrating strong leadership and professionalism.
  • Participate in the on-call rota to ensure appropriate emergency services are available outside of normal working hours.
  • Develop and maintain strong communication with General Practitioners and external healthcare agencies to ensure continuity of care.
  • Engage in clinical governance, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives, including audit activities.
  • Participate in the education and training of medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, health and safety regulations, and data protection guidelines.

 

Requirements:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Extensive experience in Acute Medicine at a level equivalent to IMT3.
  • Possession of MRCP and ALS certification.
  • Strong clinical leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and participation in audit, research, and service improvement initiatives.
