A leading healthcare provider is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Consultant Haematologist. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of haematology specialists, providing high-quality care across multiple hospital sites. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of an established haematology service, working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Primary Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will work alongside Consultant Haematologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive haematology care. Specific duties include:

  • Responsible for delivering clinical haematology services across multiple sites, including overseeing diagnostic services and interpretation of test results.
  • Ensuring compliance with laboratory standards and working to maintain high-quality service by UK regulatory requirements.
  • Working closely with clinicians, GPs, and other hospital staff to manage and treat haematological disorders.
  • Participating in clinical governance activities such as audits, professional development, and continuing medical education.
  • Involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaboration across various healthcare professionals.
  • Contributing to the training and development of junior medical staff and other team members.
  • Engaging in clinical research and trials within the department.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of clinical practice and participating in mandatory training.

Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing ongoing responsibility for haematology services across multiple hospital sites.
  2. Sharing diagnostic services and supervising the day-to-day diagnostic tests and results interpretation.
  3. Ensuring compliance with professional standards in the laboratory.
  4. Collaborating with colleagues, GPs, and other healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating haematological disorders.
  5. Participating in clinical audits, governance activities, and medical education.
  6. Contributing to the haematology department's management and junior staff's professional development.
  7. Engaging in research and clinical trials and contributing to the development of new clinical practices.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Must be on or within six months of admission to the GMC Specialist Register for Haematology or eligible for such admission.
  • Must hold a valid Licence to Practise.
  • Relevant higher degree in Haematology or a related field.
  • Significant clinical experience in all aspects of haematology.
  • Extensive experience in haematology, with evidence of leadership and involvement in the development of haematology services.
